Progress on Trump’s Bitcoin Reserve
The White House’s crypto adviser, Patrick Witt, Executive Director of the President’s Council of Advisors for Digital Asset, announced progress on President’s Donald Trump’s proposed strategic Bitcoin reserve. He also mentioned that President Trump’s administration has started developing on the structure and legal framework for the reserve.
The strategic Bitcoin reserve generally refers to a government-held stockpile of Bitcoin; this is the same on how other countries hold reserves of gold or foreign currencies.
Legislative Support to Expand Reserve Strategy
The said reserve focuses on bitcoin held by the U.S. government through forfeitures, and officials are currently working on how to strengthen and formalize the executive order into formal legislation. Witt also highlighted that there is legislative support for bills that could expand the reserve strategy.
Generally, Witt’s announcement serves as an update on the progress about President Trump’s strategic Bitcoin reserve. He also underscored that a major policy announcement related to strategic Bitcoin reserve is anticipated in the forthcoming weeks.
